Christmas Knitting

This year I managed to knit two Christmas gifts! Quite an accomplishment. I made the green hat below for my dad, using Cascade 220 Superwash and a pattern called Armando's Hat by Gina House.

I also knit a pair of fingerless mitts for my sister in law (not the ones pictured below). The ones below are a pair of fingerless mitts for myself. I had a pattern in mind for them, but when I wrapped the skein up into a ball, I realized the yarn weight was a lot lighter then I had originally thought. NBD, off the Ravelry I went and found another pattern to use. This is yarn I bought at Tess's yarn shop and it is CASHMERE! Oh-la-la!

Both the photos were taken with my Android phone, so not the best shots. :(

I'm Still Here

Hello. I'm still here, I know, don't post many entries.

So how's life?

Well, thank you for asking! I am feeling fully settled into my new home (my first home!), although I will admit to having quite a few things that have not been unpacked (or even opened) since I moved in in January 2010. Shocking? No, not if you know me.

I've been crafting, of course, and this October I bought my first wheel, a Fricke DT. I picked up on it fairly quickly and have even made some yarn already. Not a whole lot, but can definately do something with it. I can't wait for Spa so I can buy some lovely fiber to spin with. I already have a fiber collection going, mostly all of it is Sereknity. (WHEEE!!!!) Also have some white BFL from Webs. And today, I got a call from the Woolery that my niddy noddy is shipping Monday! (Thanks Mamma)

I wanted to knit some christmas gifts this year, but that didn't get very far. I actually just checked out ravelry and see that I have enough yarn to make an Armando hat for my dad, so I'm going to start that tonight, and should be able to complete fairly quickly (fingers crossed!) I figured dad needs an upgrade to his hat (no offense Heather!).

But speaking of Christmas shopping.....ugh. I'm thinking tomorrow is my day to get it done. Earlier this week, they were predicting significant snowfall amounts for sunday and into monday, but I can't really let a little snow hold me back from completing my shopping. Maybe the malls will be less crowded because of the snow? Yeah right. But who knows what significant means, knowing the news forecasters up here, it means an inch, or nothing......just wait 5 minutes, the weather will change.

Ok, off I go to wind a ball of cascade 220 superwash and cast on for an Armando hat, as soon as I finish my tea here at Starbucks. Shit, hope i have the right needles at home! (just a minor detail).

Update :)

Well, it's been almost a year, and I've not posted anything since the second time I posted ever. lol. I've been taking some photos of what I've been crafting on and am going to give an update on works completed and what I'm currently working on now.

First up is the socks I knit for my mom. She picked out the yarn when she was last up here with Heather over Mother's Day weekend. We went to a rainy NHS&W festival, and at Heather Sereknity's booth, I asked my mom to pick out a color she liked and I would knit her a pair of socks. I used the Knitty pattern, Spring Forward, which I had already done once before during my sock swap, so knitting these was a breeze.

This one is some fabric I bought recently along with a pattern to make a Market Tote. Starting cutting out the fabric today. Maybe I'll finish sewing it tonight?

This is my knitted eqyptian mittens, free pattern from ravelry. I have completed the pair, haven't blocked yet though. In this picture the thumbs not done, will have to get a better pic.

This is my sudoko quilt. Here is the pic is the quilt top assembled. At least from a distance my seams look straight! lol. This weekend I went out to candlelight quilts and picked up a piece of flannel to use as the backing. I also added an two borders to it. The inner border, about 1inch, is in the green fabric and the outer border, about 3 inches is in the swirly pink fabric. I'm going to use the brown with pink flowers as the binding. This was supposed tobe the backing, but the piece provided in the kit was not big enough. :( No worries, that just gave me a excuse to go buy some nice flannel to back it with, so it will be nice an snuggly. I already have reached out to someone to quilt it for me, for short $, so wanted to get it all set to quilt by July 1st when I see her.

Last but not least, I went to my first game at Fenway, Red Soxs v Phillies, and the stadium was pretty cool, but unfortuantely my guys lost. I had seats in a private suite and was absolutely spoiled, so not sure how I'm gonna ever not sit like that at a ballpark again! There was a flat screen tv in the bathroom so that you didn't miss the game. haha, not to mention the amount of food and beverage just kept coming and coming.
